How does laser hair removal work?

In laser hair removal, the hair at the hair root is destroyed by pulses of light. This is done by absorbing the light into the pigments of the hair root, without any damage to the skin around it. As a result, the hairs grow slower and eventually fall out. Multiple treatments are required for optimal results. How does the Duetto MT EVO work

The Duetto MT EVO laser contains several lasers, which means that a suitable solution can always be found. The Duetto MT EVO laser contains two gold standards, the Alexandrite and the Nd:YAG laser in the field of laser hair removal, vascular treatment and hyperpigmentation. The Duetto MT EVO is one of the few systems capable of combining both lasers, thanks to Mixed Technology (MT). This ensures an even more effective, but above all safer treatment.

The two laser sources of Duetto MT EVO is applied as follows:

The Alexandrite 755nm laser is the gold standard for hair removal for skin types I to III and benign hyperpigmentation treatment. The Alexandrite laser is absorbed by pigment which ensures that this laser can be used for unwanted hair growth and pigmentation. With laser hair removal, the pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser light which is converted into heat, this damages the hair follicle which makes that in time no more hair growth is possible.

- In hair removal, the Nd:YAG 1064nm laser is ideally suited for skin types IV-VI, dark skin types. Which makes it completely safe for dark skin. But also for vascular treatments. For example, in the treatment of rosacea, dilated vessels, blood vessels and leg vessels, the effective Nd:YAG is used. This laser is well absorbed by blood and causes proteins in the blood to coagulate which causes the vessel walls to be damaged and cleared by the body.

For a facial laser treatment you may be eligible for (partial) reimbursement from your health insurance company, provided you have supplementary insurance and a referral letter from your doctor. You must submit the invoice to your insurance company.

Making an appointment

The Duetto MT EVO laser contains the Alexandrite and the Nd:YAG laser. Both lasers are known as gold standards in the field of laser hair removal and vascular treatments. The Du etto MT E VO is one of the few systems capable of combining both lasers. This ensures an even more effective, but above all safer treatment.

Before the treatment starts, a comprehensive intake takes place to go over the effect and expectations with you. Before the treatment the skin will be cleaned. Then the hairs in the treatment area will be removed by means of a razor blade. This can also be done at home. The loose hairs will be removed, and the treatment area may be marked with a skin pencil. There is always a test shot first to see if the chosen setting is correct. There are different settings of the laser, which are accurately set according to skin type, hair color and hair thickness.

Laser hair removal with the Duetto MT EVO is not painless, but because of the cooling, the treatment will be experienced as less painful. The feeling is similar to a rubber band hitting the skin or a pinprick. During the treatment, heat enters the skin which can also cause the skin to feel warm.

Large worldwide studies have shown that an average of 6 to 8 treatments are needed. But it is always different for each person. For example, there are clients who finished after only 3 treatments and there are also clients who needed more than 8 treatments.

After the treatment, the skin still feels a little warm. You may also see some moist bumps (peri follicular edema) on the skin and also some burned hairs. This is a normal reaction and is part of the laser treatment. You can resume your daily activities afterwards as usual. After about 2-3 weeks the hairs will start to fall out.

After each treatment, results can be seen. The hairs become thinner and the density decreases. As a result, the armpits, bikini line or legs, for example, feel much less stubbly. The hairs fall out after 2-3 weeks, so this is very useful when a treatment is performed before a vacation.

After treatment, the skin can be cooled with a cold pack to provide relief. How should you care for your skin after laser hair removal?

The Air Skin Cyro 7 and the Twain handpieces

With the Duetto MT EVO also comes an Air Skin Cyro 7 and Twain handpieces. The former uses cool air to ensure that treatment for laser hair removal is much less painful. It also reduces the risk of injury. Where the Air Skin Cyro is for larger areas, the Twain handpieces are for smaller areas.
